Breathwork
Inhale — All.Exhale — Love.
Breath is the one movement of the body that is both automatic and available to awareness. It is where practice most often begins.
Practise now
A short breath, guided by light
Follow the circle if it is comfortable. Four counts in on “All”, six counts out on “Love”. Stop whenever you wish.
Ready
All-Love
Breathe in and out as one continuous, comfortable wave. Do not hold or force.
What breath carries
Four things breath makes possible
Awareness
Breath is the simplest way back into the present. Nothing needs to be added; noticing one full breath is already the practice.
Presence
As the breath lengthens, attention tends to settle. The habitual commentary loses some of its grip and the body becomes more inhabited.
Emotional movement
Feeling that has been held often begins to move when the breath is allowed to deepen. This is permitted rather than pursued, and always at your own pace.
Expanded states
Sustained breathing can open unusual states of consciousness. In Sekhem All-Love these are approached gently and with support, never as a spectacle.
Practising safely
Intensive breathwork is not suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant, or living with cardiovascular conditions, respiratory conditions, epilepsy, glaucoma, recent surgery, or a significant psychiatric history, please consult an appropriate healthcare professional before taking part.
Breathwork here is an experiential spiritual practice, not medical or psychological treatment, and no therapeutic outcome is promised. Never practise while driving or in water.
Go gently. Reduce the intensity or stop entirely at any point. Discomfort is not a requirement of this work.
