Practice

Shenu Meditation

Shenu is one of the central practices of Sekhem All-Love. It moves in a circle: breath and attention travel through the body, return to the heart, and settle. Nothing is forced. The practice simply gathers what is already here and lets it come to rest.

What Shenu means

The name points to a circle, a continuous loop with no beginning and no end. In the practice this is felt rather than thought: the breath descends, turns, rises, and closes. As the circle repeats, attention stops looking for the next thing to do.

How the practice unfolds

Settling

Sitting or lying comfortably, the breath is allowed to lengthen on its own. The first minutes are only about arriving.

The circle of breath

Attention follows the breath in an unbroken loop through the body, returning each time to the centre of the chest.

Resting in the heart

When the circle becomes easy, the movement quietens and what remains is presence. This is the part of the practice that cannot be produced, only allowed.

Where to begin

Guided Shenu recordings sit in the Sekhem All-Love meditation library, and Shenu sound pieces are part of Sekhem Music. The practice is taught directly in Sekhem workshops and retreats and in private sessions with Patrick Zeigler.
