Sekhem: From Structured Practice to Free-Flow Awareness

Sekhem: Spiritual Awakening, Heart Opening, and Free-Flow Sekhem Practice | class teaching, Sekhem All-Love title artwork

Explore awakening, quieting the mind, and allowing Sekhem to move beyond fixed forms into free-flow awareness and heart opening. Read the teaching at your own pace.

This teaching explores spiritual awakening, the return of fear to awareness, and the quieting of the mind so that a self-chosen purpose can emerge. It also considers the difference between structured practices and free-flow movement, the many ways Sekhem may be experienced, and how the heart can open through nature, memory, tears, and emotional release.

Remembering the Childlike State

Spiritual awakening can feel like remembering a dream. You know that you had a wonderful dream, but then you forget it. Later, perhaps during the day or even a day or two afterward, something opens and you suddenly think, “I remember that dream now.” The awakening has that same quality. Something becomes familiar again, and you recognise it as a state you have known before.

Children often live closer to this state. Their minds are not yet so busy, and they are less filled with the ideas and complications that later cover over direct experience. Becoming like a child again is one of the keys to this work. This does not mean returning to every part of childhood. Childhood can also include fear and trauma, and awakening may bring those memories and feelings back into awareness.
