True Love Is Not Attachment
In Patrick Zeigler's Sekhem teaching, many people choose power while saying that they want love, peace, happiness, and freedom. Liking these qualities is not the same as choosing them. Love, peace, freedom, and happiness belong to the character of God and the character of the soul. They are natural qualities.
A child naturally loves the mother. If the child is held by the mother and a lion comes to attack, the child does not become afraid, because the mother is there. This is an image of true love, peace, and freedom.
The mortal, embodied condition is different. It cannot be compared with the nature of the soul. When someone says, “I love you,” the feeling may actually be attachment. The person may be thinking, “You have what I want, and you may give it to me.” If the other person stops giving what is wanted, the love finishes. That is attachment, not love. True love never finishes.
